Job Description
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Federal Programs team supporting the CRS and ArtivaRM platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and early-career professionals who are eager to build their software engineering skills while working alongside experienced technical leaders. The role provides hands-on experience in a regulated federal environment. The Software Engineer will work closely with Lead and Senior Engineers, contributing to product enhancements, maintenance efforts, testing activities, and internal development initiatives that support long-term product improvements. Key Responsibilities
Software Development
- Participate in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions supporting CRS and ArtivaRM.
- Work under the guidance and mentorship of Lead and Senior Engineers to build technical and business knowledge.
- Develop and enhance application features, reports, integrations, and defect fixes.
- Learn and apply software development best practices, coding standards, and secure development principles.
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve technical skills and code quality.
- Contribute to internal projects and product improvements that are not contractually committed but provide value to the organization and customers.
Product Support & Issue Resolution
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving application defects and system issues.
- Reproduce reported issues in development and test environments.
- Support root cause analysis efforts and participate in implementing corrective solutions.
- Help maintain application performance, stability, and reliability.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Partner with developers, testers, and product teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Work closely with experienced engineers through pair programming, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning sessions, and team discussions.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and accomplishments to team members and leadership.
Technical Growth & Development
- Develop proficiency in the tools, technologies, and platforms used by the Federal Programs team.
- Gain experience working with enterprise applications, databases, and development processes.
- Continuously expand technical knowledge through training, mentorship, and hands-on project work.
- Build an understanding of federal program requirements, operational processes, and compliance expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1–2 years of software development experience.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and software development fundamentals.
- Experience through coursework, internships, personal projects, or professional work developing software applications.
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as C#, .NET, Java, JavaScript, or SQL.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies and business domains quickly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated willingness to accept feedback, learn from others, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or academic project experience involving software development.
- Familiarity with ArtivaRM or enterprise business applications.
- Exposure to InterSystems Cache, SQL databases, or related database technologies.
