Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with hands-on experience in manufacturing automation and a strong foundation in software development using C, C++, and C# on the Microsoft platform. As a key member of the FactoryTalk product team, you will contribute to a mission-critical application suite with components across the server, database, and web tiers.

You’ll join a collaborative development team and play a central role in both maintaining and modernizing our software architecture, evolving it to meet the future needs of Rockwell Automations customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain software components using C, C++, and C# in a Windows environment.
  • Participate in the evolution of the product architecture, incorporating mainstream design patterns and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, UX, product management, DevOps) to deliver high-quality features.
  • Support full-stack development across database, server, and web components as needed.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies and use tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
  • Use Git/GitHub or similar tools for source control, branching strategies, and code reviews.
  • Write clean, maintainable code and support continuous integration and delivery processes.
  • Use generative AI tools available to Rockwell Automation Software Engineers for all phases of the software development lifecycle.

The Essential Qualifications: You Will Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred – You Might Also Have:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and C# in the Microsoft development ecosystem.
  • Experience working with and implementing manufacturing automation systems or industrial software.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server or similar relational databases.
  • Experience implementing high availability, multi-threaded distributed systems.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, software design principles, and version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with Agile development practices and common collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, and GitHub).
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk products or similar industrial control platforms.
  • Exposure to web development technologies (.NET, REST APIs, JavaScript frameworks).
  • Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD tools, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experienced using generative AI tools such as GitHub CoPilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex for all phases of software development lifecycle.
