Job Description
The Software Engineer will improve operations by the design, implementation, testing and maintenance of application software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implementation, testing and maintenance of application software, GUI’s, and low level code.
- Troubleshooting of hardware/software systems.
- Participate in software development. Respond to changing requirements, systems and processes.
- Help maintain computer applications software or systems to meet business needs.
- May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Interact regularly with managers and other stakeholders to field queries and questions
- Research, document and implement program requirements and specifications
- Consistently write, translate and code software programs and applications according to specifications
- Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement and general debugging
- Administer diagnostic analysis of test results and deliver solutions to critical areas.
- Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of applications development best practices
- Gather statistics and prepare and write reports on the status of the programming process for discussion with management and/or team members
- Determine, develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines
- Install Software products for end users as required
- Write and/or delete programming script to enhance functionality and/or appearance of company Web site and Web applications as necessary
- Recommend, schedule and perform software improvements and upgrades for optimal performance of company workstations
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Must have strong and up-to-date skills in C#
- Candidates should possess familiarity with HTML, CSS and PHP
- Previous Experience with hardware control systems and I/O desired
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Database, specifically MySQL, experience a plus
- Ability and inclination to create well-engineered software including: developing from UML, full commenting, robust implementation, error handling, code inspections, documentation, etc.
- High self-motivation with proven abilities for both independent work and teamwork. Candidates must have the initiative and drive to produce quality results with minimal oversight.
- Image processing and knowledge of Matlab desirable
- Understanding of network/TCP programming a plus
- Experience with AWS & Python desirable
- GUI development experience desired, experience with WPF a plus
- Previous knowledge with communication through WCF
- Previous experience with low level/driver programming and DLL interactions a plus
- Knowledge working with or on open source or 3rd party software components desirable
