Job Description

Piper Companies is hiring a Jr. Software Engineer for a Cloud and Technology company located in Morrisville, NC. The Jr. Software Engineer will be a consummate team player, and possess outstanding listening, collaboration, and communication skills. The Jr. Software Engineer role is a hybrid position located in Morrisville, NC.

Responsibilities of the Jr. Software Engineer Include:

  • Develop, test, and automate cloud-based infrastructure solutions using Python, Pytest-Testinfra, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Packer.
  • Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of secure environments within AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and other cloud platforms while ensuring compliance with government requirements.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and related automation technologies to improve software delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based environments, containers, Kubernetes, Docker, virtual machines, and cloud infrastructure to support application and platform reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and remote teams in an Agile/Kanban environment to solve complex technical issues, implement improvements, and deliver high-quality cloud engineering solutions.

Qualifications of the Jr. Software Engineer include:

  • Ability to work in the U.S. with bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Development, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field.
  • AWS GovCloud and/or Azure Government environments; must be available to work onsite at RTP at least every Thursday.
  • Proficiency in Python development and automation; experience with Pytest-Testinfra preferred. Familiarity with Ansible is highly desired, along with knowledge of Terraform and Packer.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, including AWS (preferred), Azure, GCP, or OpenStack, and a strong understanding of cloud fundamentals demonstrated through hands-on experience, internships, personal projects, GitHub contributions, or industry certifications.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, containers, Docker, Kubernetes, virtualization technologies, CI/CD tools, and Agile methodologies; strong communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Entry-level candidates will be considered with strong internship experience, a demonstrated GitHub portfolio, and relevant personal technical projects.
