Job Description

Chewy is seeking highly driven and passionate early career Software Engineers to join our Partner Fulfillment Platform engineering team in Fort Lauderdale, FL, or Boston, MA.

The Partner Fulfillment Platform powers the technology that enables Chewy to seamlessly collaborate with thousands of external partners—including suppliers, marketplace sellers, and fulfillment providers—to deliver exceptional customer experience. Our platform supports capabilities such as supplier onboarding, order orchestration, fulfillment integrations, inventory visibility, product onboarding, and operational insights that power both Dropship and Marketplace businesses.

As an engineer on our team, you’ll build modern cloud-native applications, event-driven integrations, and APIs that connect Chewy’s internal systems with our external partner ecosystem. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers while leveraging modern AI-assisted software development practices to design, build, test, and operate high-quality software.

This is an opportunity to contribute to highly visible platforms that directly impact customers, partners, and the continued growth of Chewy.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native applications and services supporting Chewy’s Partner Fulfillment Platform.
  • Build APIs, event-driven integrations, and distributed systems connecting suppliers, marketplace sellers, carriers, and internal business platforms.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and reliable software solutions.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software design, implementation, testing, documentation, and debugging while applying sound engineering judgment and code quality standards.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following established software engineering and secure development practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Learn modern software architecture patterns, cloud technologies, and operational excellence practices while contributing to production systems.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 1–2 years of experience developing software using Java.
  • Experience building applications on AWS or another major cloud platform.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows.
  • Curiosity about AI-assisted software development and an eagerness to incorporate AI tools responsibly throughout the software development lifecycle (requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused engineering environment.

Bonus

  • Experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, RDS, or API Gateway.
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices, including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, and DevOps.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants (such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools) to improve engineering productivity while maintaining high code quality.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments (Scrum or Kanban).
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, integrations, or supply chain/marketplace technologies is a plus.
