As a Software Engineer, you will help scale our technology to thousands of new buildings across North America.  A pivotal role in advancing innovation and ensuring the quality, reliability, and security of our IoT water system monitoring product.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain features across our platform, including our mobile app (React Native/Expo), while also contributing to our Vue web portal and Spring Boot backend as the work requires.
  • Write and maintain automated tests (unit and integration) for the code you ship, and help keep our CI/CD pipelines healthy and reliable.
  • Take ownership of your work end-to-end – your responsibility doesn’t end at merge, and you stay responsive when something breaks in production.
  • Participate in monitoring system health and diagnosing issues in production environments – help triage and resolve bugs reported by users or monitoring tools.
  • Assist in system DevOps including setup, configuration, and management of cloud-based infrastructure (AWS or similar) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work closely with Evolution Sales, Customer Success and Engineering teams to plan, prioritize, and deliver new features and improvements.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including user guides, deployment guides, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Support security testing and performance optimization efforts, helping to ensure our solutions are robust and scalable.
  • Bring a growth mindset—proactively suggest and help implement improvements to our tools, processes, and workflows, and embrace learning new technologies across mobile, web, backend, and IoT.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a software engineering role
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required with possible overnight stays.
  • Experience with React Native (or strong React fundamentals and eagerness to pick up mobile development), TypeScript, and at least one modern backend language—Java/Spring Boot preferred. Familiarity with Vue is a plus.
  • Experience with REST APIs and SQL, exposure to NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Selenium).
  • Understanding of IoT technologies, protocols, and wireless communication standards is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.), mobile development, Docker, or containerization is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and familiarity with issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and incomplete specifications, and able to take a problem end-to-end with limited handholding.
  • Actively uses AI tools in their workflow and is curious about how to push them further to accelerate output.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a willingness to cross between mobile, web, and backend depending on what the team needs.
