BlackSky is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Intern to join our Platform Test team for a Summer 2026 internship. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will assist with both manual and automated testing of BlackSky’s web-based applications. This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is eager to learn and apply SDET concepts in a real-world, fast-paced environment.
As an intern, you will contribute to test planning, automation framework development, and troubleshooting, while gaining exposure to BlackSky’s innovative satellite geospatial platform. They are curious, self-motivated, and eager to learn new skills in a collaborative environment.
This position is in Herndon, VA and the candidate must be able to work from that office on a hybrid basis. This is a paid summer internship position.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the engineering team to perform system-level integration test of BlackSky’s platform applications.
Assist in creating and executing test plans, incorporating a combination of manual and automated testing.
Work closely with developers to understand software design and functionality purposes.
Contribute to the development improvement of automated test frameworks and scripts using Python.
Debug and troubleshoot software issues and participate in code reviews.
Contribute to technical documentation and team discussions on best practices.

Required Qualifications:
Rising junior, senior or grad student studying Computer Science, Software Development or other relevant degree.
Prior experience using Python.
Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
