Job Description

Ambrook’s platform engineers build the foundational systems that let the rest of the company build Ambrook better. This is a broad mandate: you’ll work across product infrastructure, including our PostgreSQL databases and GCP environment, and company infrastructure, including internal tooling, data platforms, and the systems that power internal AI workflows. Most of our stack is TypeScript, with some GCP scripting you’ll pick up on the job.

This role combines strong infrastructure judgment with a product mindset. You’ll learn from the engineers and non-engineering teams who depend on the platform, iterate quickly for them, and defend the quality, security, and scalability standards that keep Ambrook dependable as we grow.

You’ll also help build the infrastructure behind Ambrook’s agentic systems. The focus isn’t on building individual agents: it’s on creating the shared frameworks, evals, loops, harnesses, sandboxes, and interfaces that let internal teams and customer-facing product teams build and operate agents with confidence. We’re working toward a world where any team can request an agent, deploy it to the cloud, run evals, and see results on a dashboard. Your work will improve the experience of every employee and expand what the whole company can ship.

Within 1 month you’ll…

  • Build a working mental model of Ambrook’s product and company infrastructure, including PostgreSQL, GCP, data systems, developer tooling, security foundations, and emerging agent infrastructure.
  • Develop relationships with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders to understand how they use the platform and where it creates friction.
  • Ship a meaningful infrastructure improvement to production that improves the codebase, developer experience, or internal tooling.
  • Identify and prioritize platform opportunities based on conversations with the teams who depend on these systems.

Within 3 months you’ll…

  • Own a platform project from discovery through production rollout that improves developer velocity, reliability, or scalability across the codebase.
  • Plan and execute a production database or GCP change with safe migration, validation, observability, and rollback practices.
  • Ship a useful slice of Ambrook’s internal agent infrastructure, such as an interface for configuring agents, an evaluation system, or a harness for running agent loops.
  • Establish a tight feedback loop with internal platform customers and use it to improve what you build.

Within 6 months you’ll…

  • Expand shared agent infrastructure that supports both internal workflows and customer-facing agentic features, including reusable evals, harnesses, sandboxes, and operational tooling.
  • Drive a platform roadmap informed by internal customer needs, codebase-wide opportunities, and Ambrook’s standards for quality, security, and scalability.
  • Deliver a substantial improvement to Ambrook’s database, cloud, data, or developer infrastructure and help the broader engineering team adopt it.
  • Raise the standard for infrastructure changes through clear design, careful migration planning, and production ownership.

About you

  • You have built and operated production platform or infrastructure systems, with hands-on experience in PostgreSQL and GCP.
  • You have planned and run migrations at scale, including validation, observability, and rollback strategies that protect production systems and customer data.
  • You enjoy platform work and look for changes that improve the whole codebase, developer experience, or tooling rather than a single feature.
  • You treat engineers and non-engineering teams as platform customers. You learn how they work, build with empathy, and iterate from real feedback.
  • You can move quickly while defending the quality and scalability standards that shared infrastructure requires.
  • You are comfortable building the interfaces and supporting product surfaces that make infrastructure useful to internal teams.
  • You are security-minded and consider access, data handling, failure modes, and operational risk as part of ordinary engineering work.
  • Bonus: You have built infrastructure for agentic systems, such as evals, agent loops, harnesses, or sandboxes, rather than only building individual agents.
  • Bonus: Experience working directly on application security or infrastructure security.
  • Bonus: Experience building financial products or systems where auditability and data integrity matter.
