Automation QA - Associate Consultant

As an Automation QA - Associate Consultant, you will support quality engineering and release activities for Guidewire implementation initiatives. You will contribute to automated test execution, test-case development and maintenance, regression testing, defect management, and sprint-level quality activities.
This is an entry-level Professional Services role supporting billable customer engagements. The position is based in India and aligned to the APAC region.

Job Description

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts based on functional and technical requirements.
• Create and update test cases, test data, and regression suites.
• Analyze test results, identify issues, and document defects clearly in tools such as JIRA.
• Participate in defect triage and collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and other QA team members.
• Support test automation frameworks, reusable components, and associated documentation.
• Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Coordinate with project teams to align testing activities with sprint deliverables and release timelines.
• Prepare and communicate basic QA status updates, test execution results, defect summaries, and release-quality metrics.
• Follow established testing standards, automation guidelines, and project delivery processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices and automation coverage under the guidance of senior team members.

These responsibilities reflect common Associate Consultant-level QA activities, including regression testing, defect logging, sprint collaboration, and release-level QA reporting.

What you have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or a related area.
• Basic understanding of software testing life cycles, test-case design, defect management, and regression testing.
• Exposure to at least one programming or scripting language, such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or Gosu.
• Familiarity with automated testing concepts and frameworks.
• Experience using test management or defect-tracking tools such as JIRA.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile, sprint-based delivery environment.
• Willingness to learn Guidewire products, implementation practices, and customer-specific solutions.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, REST Assured, or similar automation tools.
• Familiarity with API testing, web application testing, and SQL fundamentals.
• Experience with Git or other source-control systems.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and automated test execution within build pipelines.
• Exposure to Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, or related insurance-domain applications.
• Experience preparing test execution summaries, defect reports, or QA metrics.
• Ability to work with distributed teams across APAC and other global locations.
• Experience profiles supporting this role commonly include automation QA, functional testing, regression testing, defect tracking, and Guidewire platform exposure.
