Job Description
The Applications Engineer I works closely with the Application Engineering team to support customer and reseller needs through technical support, software application assistance, training, and implementation activities. The role provides an opportunity to develop professional expertise in supported products and manufacturing applications while applying established procedures and learning from experienced team members. The Applications Engineer I communicates with customers in both English and Spanish and helps resolve application questions and issues in a timely, professional manner.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide first-level technical and application support to customers and resellers, escalating complex or critical issues when additional expertise is required
- Assist with online customer training and application guidance for supported software products and workflows.
- Support software application implementation and integration activities using established procedures and guidance from experienced Applications Engineers.
- Assist with post processor modifications, custom reports, UCS, catalogs, and libraries as directed and within established processes.
- Participate in customer introduction and follow-up activities to understand needs, provide updates, and help ensure issues are addressed.
- Document customer interactions, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and follow-up actions accurately and consistently.
- Gather and communicate customer feedback to help improve products, services, documentation, and support processes.
- Analyze application or technical issues using established troubleshooting methods, available documentation, and internal resources.
- Escalate serious complaints, critical technical issues, or problems outside established procedures to the Applications Engineering Manager or appropriate technical resource.
- Maintain a polite, helpful, courteous, and professional approach in all customer and internal interactions.
- Build technical knowledge through formal training, independent research, mentoring, and other learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with sales, service, applications engineering, and other internal teams to support customer outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing, a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to learn and apply professional concepts, software applications, and established technical procedures.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers with different levels of technical knowledge.
- Strong analytical, reasoning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple customer requests and assigned work while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software tools and systems.
- Ability to work independently on defined assignments while collaborating effectively with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams.
