As a Networking Test Engineer you make sure that our massive and growing network is operating at its peak potential. You have hands-on experience with complex networking equipment, a deep understanding of networking protocols, test design and implementation chops and a background in IP network design. It’s your job to make sure Google’s cutting-edge technology can perform at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute and automate comprehensive network test plans, leveraging direct experience in C++, Python and other automation frameworks.
  • Utilize testing tools such as Ixia, Spirent Test Center, TRex, Wireshark, etc. to assess the performance and reliability of network systems.
  • Implement various simulation techniques to replicate network conditions for thorough testing.
  • Write and review test plans with teams, including identifying and gathering requirements to test networking features of a moderate to high-complexity project, participate in cross-functional reviews with related teams which cover test plans and test results.
  • Triage Automated regression failures and provide failure analysis and manage software releases to production.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with network equipment and network protocols testing and debugging.
  • Experience in test automation using Python or C++.
  • Experience with test methodologies, writing test plans and creating test cases.
