Job Description

Schwab is looking for an engineer who is eager to grow in a role that brings together software systems engineering, operations, automation, and platform reliability. In this role, you will help support cloud and login platforms by contributing to production operations, incident response, monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen availability, maintainability, and reliability for critical application workflows.

You will work alongside engineers, platform teams, and business partners to investigate technical issues, improve operational processes, reduce manual work through automation, and support dashboards, alerts, and tools that create stronger operational visibility. This is an opportunity to build an SRE mindset while learning how to apply sound judgment, structured troubleshooting, and data-driven decision-making in a highly regulated financial services environment. Success in this role will require curiosity, adaptability, collaboration, and a strong desire to solve problems in ways that create measurable stability and long-term impact.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience supporting or administering enterprise-level platforms in a technical role
  • Experience writing automation scripts or building monitoring dashboards and alerts
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts and operational reliability practices
  • Hands-on familiarity with systems administration, monitoring, or deployment activities in cloud and/or hybrid environments
  • Exposure to Windows Server 2022 and/or Linux hosted via virtual machines
  • Working knowledge of IP networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and IP routing
  • Basic understanding of distributed systems and high-availability concepts
  • Basic development proficiency in one or more languages such as .NET, PowerShell, Java, Python, or Bash
  • Exposure to one or more databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MongoDB
  • Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana, ThousandEyes, ExtraHop, Moogsoft, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Curiosity about AI/ML operations tooling, AIOps platforms, or ML-assisted observability
  • Experience integrating automation with operational workflows to reduce manual effort and improve reliability
  • Familiarity with financial services, regulatory, or compliance-focused technology environments
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Harness, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions, or with GitOps concepts
  • Exposure to container orchestration or cloud platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with Agile or SAFe methodology
  • Exposure to message brokers such as Solace, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, or Kafka
  • Ability to communicate clearly, document solutions, and share knowledge across engineering and platform teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, identify patterns, and contribute to practical improvements
  • Openness to learning new tools, applying feedback, and building technical judgment over time
