Job Description For AstraZeneca Off Campus Drive 2024

As an individual contributor within the Commercial IT – SSD, Data, Analytics and AI Platform Success Team the Platform Success Engineer – CI/CD responsibilities include the following:

  • Automating and streamlining our software delivery processes
  • Primary focus will be to design, implement, and maintain robust Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, enabling faster and more reliable software releases.
  • Work closely with development, testing, and operations teams to optimize and enhance our CI/CD workflows.
  • Maintaining solid understanding of platform architecture and discernment, enabling balanced & strategy- aligned roadmap management and prioritized backlog delivery
  • Ability to integrate Agile, Lean and SaFe practices within CI/CD initiatives and to continuously improve delivery cycle times.
  • Exploring and implementing new ways to automate systems – Designing and testing automation processes, identifying quality issues and supporting IT platform teams to eliminate defects and errors with product and platform development.

Typical Accountabilities

Technology/Tool Management

  • Responsible for the evaluation, selection, and deployment of CI/CD tools suitable for the organization’s technology stack – this includes creation of effective business case(s) to influence investment and innovation
  • Handle and optimize CI/CD tools to enhance pipeline efficiency and reliability CI/CD Practice Management
  • Collaborate with DevOps, CriticalOps and IT leadership teams to understand system requirements and design effective monitoring strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives
  • Establish key metrics and KPIs that enable insights and analytics to achieve data-driven continuous improvement backlog
  • Develop and handle CI/CD principles & best practices and drive adoption across development teams
  • Implement monitoring and reporting mechanisms within CI/CD pipelines to track performance and identify issues
  • Generate reporting capabilities to supervise key metrics such as build success/failure rates, deployment times, test coverage, etc.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for CI/CD processes and workflows
  • Collaborate with security teams to integrate security scanning and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines
  • Implement security standard methodologies throughout the deployment process
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to CI/CD platforms

CI/CD Implementation & Automation

  • Design, create, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for diverse software applications
  • Implement automation scripts and configurations to support the end-to-end deployment process
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD processes seamlessly into the development lifecycle
  • Ensure code repositories, builds, and deployments are well-aligned with version control and branching strategies
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for tasks such as code compilation, testing, packaging, and deployment
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code packages to automate infrastructure provisioning
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to ensure code quality
  • Collaborate with QA teams to enhance and optimize testing processes within CI/CD workflows.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Degree level education in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a CI/CD Engineer or a similar role
  • Strong proficiency in CI/CD tools (e.g. Bamboo, Jenkins)
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation in data environments
  • Familiarity with logging, tracing, and APM (Application Performance Monitoring) solutions.

Desirable

  • Customer engagement experience
  • Knowledge of data processing frameworks (e.g. Apache Spark) and data storage solutions (e.g. data lakes, warehouses)
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g. AWS)
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (e.g. AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, etc.)

Skills and Capabilities

Essential

  • Experience with continuous deployment and delivery strategies
  • Working knowledge of Agile Software Development techniques and Methodologies
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and continuous deployment practices as part of an Agile team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with coaching/mentoring team members
  • Demonstrate initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural working
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill.
